Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, leading to blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts. It is often caused by a combination of factors, including hormonal changes, genetics, and an overproduction of oil (sebum) from sebaceous glands. While most common during puberty, it can affect people of all ages and typically appears on the face, chest, and back. 

               (Causes)

• Clogged hair follicles: Sebaceous glands produce oil (sebum) that travels up hair follicles. Acne forms when hair follicles become blocked by a combination of this oil and dead skin cells.
• Hormonal changes: Increased hormone levels, such as those during puberty, menstrual cycles, or pregnancy, can cause sebaceous glands to produce more oil.
• Genetics: If your parents had acne, you are more likely to have it as well.
• Bacteria: A type of bacteria called P. acnes, which normally lives on the skin, can become more aggressive and cause inflammation and pus when the follicles are blocked.
